Stan Musial is considered the greatest player in the history of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. There is a monumental statue of him on the west side of Busch Stadium. I think it's very unflattering. The back and shoulders are huge, out of proportion, a Frankenstein look. Well, maybe poetic license is allowed to show his strength. But the face is so misshapen (notice how the jaw is way off center), the expression is so dead and it doesn't look much like him, anyway. The team could have done better.

I am grateful that my parents moved to St. Louis in 1963, in time for me to become a Cardinals fan before Stan Musial retired, so I could see him play.
He did have a rounded shoulders batting stance, but I agree with you about the statue.
It was nice to see on the news that President Obama hosted Stan the Man at the White House recently to give him an award.
It was also nice that after Stan Musial retire, he was replaced in left field by Lou Brock. What excitement during the 60's and 70's.
And thank you to the Chicago Cubs for trading Lou Brock to the Cardinals for Ernie Broglio.
Am I missing something here? Stan Musial played first base.
