33/365: Current Conditions

.
Kindly Geppetto Frozen

This image is representative of what it's like around here at the moment. A rip roaring winter storm is passing through the Midwest and headed toward the Northeast.

We were fortunate that the worst stuff tracked further north than expected. St. Louis had freezing rain all day Tuesday, falling as tiny ice pellets. We may get a little more Tuesday night into Wednesday. Things will get back to normal soon.

2011-02-01 Ice And Snow 5For now, everything is coated in ice, even Pinocchio, as portrayed in Tom Otterness' sculpture Kindly Geppetto in Citygarden. More frozen photos today on St. Louis Daily Photo, like this one.

10/365: Art That Makes You Sweat

.
Geppetto Sweats, Too

Can bronze sweat? No idea - I'm no metallurgist. It looks, though, like the puppet master is full of anxiety before whapping his creation in Tom Otterness' Kindly Geppetto, located in the northeast corner of Citygarden at 8th and Chestnut. Citygarden might be my favorite place downtown after the Arch. I can see this sculpture from my office window, albeit from 23 stories up.
